The Pools are not Deep: Part 3

With Ben injured and out of the mix we had to devise a new plan. Our original plan was to do as many self supported overnighters that we could, ending with the Los Pinos. After sending Ben off to the airport we spent a day regrouping by playboating down the Numbers section of the Arkansas River @ ~2800 cfs. We decided to spend the next day looking for The North Fork of the South Arkansas. We weren't really sure what to expect about this short run. All the beta we had were that the drops were shallow. We asked several people what they knew about it and all we heared was, "Yeah, so and so ran it and he pitoned really bad. Make sure to boof." Upon arrival we made a quick scout before gearing up. I checked the pool below the second drop and it was less than knee deep. So a boof was pretty crucial. I charged the first drop hard, because I was bit concerned with the hole at the base of it. This was a really good decision, because this lined me up perfect to hit the boof into the shallow pool. I ran the last drop and eddied out waiting for Adam to bomb on down. Adam took a little different line than I did. The hole at the first drop kinda surfed him pushing him off line for the next drop. Adam salvaged what little boof he could get but it wasn't enough. Adam tested the depth of the pool. He told me it wasn't very deep. That test resulted in broken boat number 2 of the trip.
